In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God.
Youth Ministry at Jesus the Divine Word offers many avenues in which our young people can grow stronger in their faith, including the Sacrament of Confirmation (during their 9th grade year).
“IGNITE” middle school nights are designed to give our youth opportunities for fellowship while making friends in a Christian setting. Since they are already attending faith formation classes, we have designed IGNITE to offer ways in which they can have fun together while deepening their relationships with each other learning while learning more about their faith. This environment will prepare them as they move closer to our high school ministry, where they will be Confirmed in the faith and deepen their relationship with God as well as how better to build up the Body of Christ.
Our high school ministry, “Upper Room,” meets at least twice a month and hits a wide brush of spirituality to include all 8 components of youth ministry. In addition to the “curriculum” standards used (which are very comparable to other youth ministry programs used in the Diocese), we incorporate local and national retreats and conferences to give our youth a wide-range of opportunities to grow in their faith.
All areas of our youth ministry are meant to broaden and deepen our youth’s relationships with their parents, family, friends, and most importantly God. They are given many ways to get to know Jesus Christ on a personal level and to learn how to rely on Him in their day-to-day life.
